Despite being known throughout the world as ‘Swede’, this vegetable has the name of ‘rutabaga’ in the United States. Not too surprisingly, Swedes originate from Sweden, where cultivation has occured for centuries.

Swedes are not an original vegetable, and they are a hybrid of cabbage and turnips. We can eat this root vegetable in a variety of ways, from roasting, boiling and mashing, or even making chips/crisps.
